Oscar Chalupsky
Oscar Chalupsky, 46, is the iron-willed older brother of Herman Chalupsky. The veteran surf-ski champion re-joined his brother’s business in 2009, bringing boundless energy and a massive arsenal of contacts to the firm.
Oscar’s area of focus is offices and he handles sales and leases throughout Durban, but places special emphasis on a portfolio of A-grade offices in the growth nodes of Riverhorse, La Lucia Ridge, Umhlanga and Ballito.
A firm believer in the expansion of Durban along the northern corridor, Oscar is tracking the development towards the city’s new international airport and Richards Bay. The area is home to many blue chip businesses and is fast becoming the mid-Rand of Durban.
Oscar’s approach to business mirrors his success in sport: "If I set my mind on something I go all out until I win. In any business a client wants the best product, the best price and the best service. I work with top clients and top properties to deliver this.”
On top of his legendary performance as a sportsman, Oscar’s reputation is enhanced by 16 years in the insurance industry where he gained enormous experience and secured invaluable, lifelong contacts. His bullet-proof attitude has seen him secure numerous successes, in and out of the water.
With passive income from a variety of business interests, including telephony and sports equipment, Oscar has decided to re-kindle his fond association with the business founded by his brother Herman.
Like Herman, Oscar is one of the most recognized paddlers in the world. He is an eleven-time World Paddle Ski Champion and captained the South African team at the Barcelona Olympics, which are among a truck load of trophies.
Oscar is married to Clare. They have two children, Luke, 18 and Hannah, 15.
