Alan Barter, 53, is Chalupsky’s man in the city centre. A former sales and marketing executive, Alan hails from East London. He spent 11 years with the Rupert Group, including a year’s stint in London. He also worked for Johnson & Johnson before he was lured into an entrepreneurial enterprise in the FMCG sector.
Alan is married with two children and has lived in Durban for the last 12 years. He is a keen chef and avid surf-ski paddler. He is president and past chairman of the Marine Lifesaving Club in Durban.
At Chalupsky, Alan focuses on office, retail and warehouse space in the CBD. "I tend to be a perfectionist and my attention to detail proves to be my advantage in the long run. "I have also vowed never to put any deal before my integrity." Alan says there is a lot of activity in the CBD. "There is a continual demand from small companies needing space, which is the mark of a vibrant economy."
